What is wakeboarding?
For the wakeboarding beginner, the sport is best described as being towed behind a motorboat at speeds of up to 25mph whilst attached to a board that’s bigger than a skateboard, smaller than a surfboard and a bit wider than a snowboard!
You wear bindings to secure your feet to the board. As the boat accelerates, you slot in between the wake (the waves created by the boat) until you’re comfortable being towed behind the boat. When you’re ready you then edge the board out to the side of the boat and cut back across the wake to the other side - going from wake-to-wake to perform manoeuvres, such as jumps, flips, and spins.

Where is the best place for wakeboarding?
We offer wakeboarding as an inclusive activity at many of our clubs, with something for everyone whether you’re trying it out for the first time, or are an experienced wakeboarder. But where’s best for wakeboarding? Head to our Alana Beach Club in Croatia, nestled between the beautiful turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea and the jaw-dropping mountains of the Paklenica National Park. Here, the wakeboarding conditions are perfect for beginners and pros alike.
Alternatively, if Greece takes your fancy, Vounaki Beach Club is the best option for wakeboarding with smooth, glassy water making the conditions perfect.
At both Alana or Vounaki Beach Clubs, you can also try wakesurfing.
Can children wakeboard?
Children who can already wakeboard can join in with any of our regular free sessions (up to two free tows per person per week) at Levante Beach, Messini, Vounaki or Alana Beach Clubs. Children can also upgrade to the bronze, silver, gold packages.
All children must be at least 120cm tall to enjoy wakeboarding family holidays.
Is wakeboarding harder than water skiing?
Wakeboarding is generally considered to be slightly harder than water skiing. When water skiing, you ride the water with your feet parallel and your body facing forwards, whilst when wakeboarding, your feet are perpendicular to the board and your body faces forward, which can make it trickier to get the hang of.
However, both wakeboarding and water skiing are lots of fun - and our experienced instructors will help you every step of the way, even if you’ve never done any water sports before! Why not give both a go and see which one you prefer?
We offer inclusive wakeboarding at Alana Beach Club in Croatia, plus Levante Beach, Vounaki, Messini and Buca Beach Clubs in Greece.
