Where the Acarnanian Mountains meet the gentle, clear blue waters of the Ionian Sea – that's where you'll find Vounaki Beach Club.

When you see the large sailing area with the shores of Lefkas Island as the backdrop and hear the pinging of ropes against masts – you'll know why water sports and in particular dinghy sailing is so popular here. Consistent winds and easy launching make getting onto the water a breeze.

Families will love the long sweeping beach and the dedicated children's pool. We make life even easier with a full range of children's clubs, spacious rooms and an easy-going atmosphere.

Water Activities

With so much variety, there's bound to be a water sport to suit you; dinghy sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, wakeboarding, paddle boarding and kayaking - all are included in your holiday to Vounaki Beach Club. Wakesurfing is also available for a supplement, book locally to give it a go.

Our activity planner shows what is available and how to plan your week at Vounaki Beach Club.

Dinghy sailing and windsurfing

Gentle winds that build in the afternoon will help grow your sailing confidence. The sea in this part of the south Ionian rarely gets beyond a gentle ripple, so it's great for all of the available water sports.  Windsurfing is suited to beginners and non-planing intermediates who will love the easy launching and wide open bay, as will the dinghy sailors.

All dinghy sailing and windsurfing tuition follows the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) teaching scheme, so you'll be progressing in a safe and fun way. If you're after a few pointers, just sign up for the group sessions with one of the team and they'll advise you of the right group for your level.

Dinghy sailing equipment: Topper Topaz 16, RS Quest, Laser Pico, RS Aero, Laser 1

Windsurfing equipment: a range of beginner, intermediate (160-130 litres) and shortboards from manufacturers Starboard, Fanatic and RRD. Dino rigs for children (2m-4.5m); start rigs for beginners (2.5m / 3.5m / 4.5m); adult rigs (4m - 8.2m)

Water skiing and Wakeboarding

If water skiing and wakeboarding are more your thing, most mornings you'll wake up to flat, glassy water.

There's a ski pontoon located just off the beach giving easy access to our ski boats. We include 2 free tows per person per week (3 if you're on a 10 or 11-night holiday) with upgrade packs available from just £175 per person. Don't forget, you can also try wakesurfing for a small supplement.

On the water, we have the Ski Nautique 196 and GS20 and a range of skis, boards, mono-skis, wakesurf boards and wakeskates.

Kayaking and paddle boarding

Kayaking and paddle boarding are both easy to master in the calm waters and the coastline is full of interest, so get out there and explore.

Just head down to the waterfront and one of the team will help you get kitted up and onto the water. We also run a guided kayak safari, just sign up with one of the team if you'd like to join in

Equipment: Gemini single and double sit on top kayaks; wave kayaks; Red Paddle Co paddle boards (10'6" & 10'8") and XXL paddle board (8 person).

Yacht Sailing

There's also a marina and a large fleet of Neilson yachts. The yachts can be booked for a skippered day sail (the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion) or you can opt for a stay and sail holiday.

On a stay-and-sail holiday from Vounaki Beach Club, you'll be combining a week at the Beach Club with a week on board a yacht, sailing the beautiful south Ionian coastline with a group of other yachts (also known as a flotilla).

There are many inclusive activities, from mountain biking, road cycling, tennis and a programme of fitness classes.

Our activity planner shows what is available and how to plan your week at Vounaki Beach Club.

Cycling

The nearby Acarnanian Mountains provide superb cycling terrain. Challenging climbs on quiet roads and a great range of trails will have roadies and mountain bikers grinning from ear to ear. For a more relaxing experience on two wheels, venture along shady tracks to rural villages and secluded beaches. There are guided rides each day or the bikes are available for free riding.

Mountain bikes: Trek X-Caliber 9 MTB (2022)

Road bikes: Trek Domane AL2 (2022)

If you've got cycling shoes with cleats and are planning on bringing them with you, we advise that you should also bring your own pedals. That way, they are guaranteed to fit.

Tennis

We have 2 tennis courts and you can expect the best of the best in tennis coaching with our Mark Petchey tennis programme. The programme runs daily, with free group coaching sessions run by expert coaches, trained by Mark himself.

Our coaching sessions are tailored to different skill levels, so it doesn't matter if you're a novice or a seasoned pro - you'll be practicing with players of similar ability. Additionally, we hold an informal tournament each week, which all players are welcome to participate in. It's our own version of Wimbledon, so don't miss out!

We provide a selection of adult and child rackets from Wilson.

In addition, we have a functional fitness studio equipped with a rig, slam balls, core bags, med balls, dumbbells, and resistance bands, as well as a dedicated indoor cycling studio and Les Mills BODYPUMP™️ classes.

Cool off in the swimming pool or for a little extra you can sign up for some swim coaching.

Food and drink

Our holidays include club board meals – daily breakfast, daily lunch and 4 evening meals each week. From buffets to beach bbq's our chefs work tirelessly to provide a wide range of delicious food. Head to the beach bar for a post-activity thirst quencher or, when the day is done, enjoy drinks on the terrace of the deck bar and watch the sun setting over the bay.

Our inclusive meal nights are on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and you will dine in our buffet restaurant. On non-inclusive evenings, enjoy a pizza or burger from the pool bar, or head out to one of a handful of local tavernas in Paleros.

Rooms

The rooms have a traditional Greek feel to them and are bright and airy. Many of the rooms have sea views, whilst others look out over the back of the Beach Club towards the Acarnanian Mountains.

There is a wide choice of accommodation to suit most needs with double and twin rooms (some also have sofa beds), plus interconnecting and mezzanine rooms for larger groups and families.

Each room has air conditioning, a mini-fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities, a telephone, a safe, beach towels and a hairdryer. There's free Wi-Fi in the public areas and in most of the rooms.

Local tourist taxes are payable by you when you check out of Vounaki Beach Club. The charge is €7 per room per night (correct as of March 2024).

Families and children

The Beach Club is set on a hillside. All areas are linked by gradual slopes and pathways, but there are still a few steps here and there to navigate. That said, it's great for families with lots of wide open spaces, a quiet beach, a family-friendly pool and a separate kids' pool. The rooms are spacious, with plenty of space for family groups. There are also interconnecting and mezzanine rooms.

Your kids (2-17 years) will be kept busy day in and day out with our range of children's clubs. For our very youngest guests, we have the Starfish crèche (available as a supplement) and there's a 24-hour baby room, where you can make feeds, warm milk and sterilise bottles. Make sure your children don't miss out, pre-book before you go to secure a space in the club they want.

Local area

The delightful Greek village of Paleros is just ten minutes from the Beach Club. Charming, quaint with lovely beaches, traditional restaurants and bars – you'll be greeted with friendly smiles from the local residents.

Lefkas and Preveza towns are also worth taking a trip to. Bustling and lively, they provide a good contrast to the sleepy shores of Paleros.

Lefkas Town

The capital of the island is just a local bus ride away and well worth a visit for the day or evening. An attractive and bustling town, Lefkas includes narrow lanes with fancy boutiques, open squares with busy tavernas and a quayside teeming with yachts and fishing boats.

Day sails and sunset cruise

Take a day sail on a skippered Neilson yacht. Drink in the magical coastline, while relaxing in the warm breeze on deck. Let us sail you to secluded bays where you can swim or snorkel in the crystal clear water. Alternatively, sail into the sunset, sipping bubbles as the sun sinks below the horizon; enjoy the romance of the evening on a sunset cruise. This is definitely the climax to a wonderful day.
