Whether old or young we all get the same thrill from trying something new or doing more of the things we love. Life though, has a habit of getting in the way so a holiday with a huge amount of activities included within the price is the perfect opportunity for you and your family to get together and do more activities in a week than some people would manage in a lifetime. Even better, on a Neilson Beachclub holiday those activities come included in the price. Energy permitting there's no limit to how many of the inclusive activities you can try and cram into your one or two week holiday.
On the water
On a Neilson Beachclub holiday there's a wide range of inclusive watersports to dive into throughout the week. There's a programme of watersports designed to give you the chance to join in with and try as many activities as possible (if you want to that is). Take your pick from dinghy sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, wakeboarding, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking.
Whether you and your family are water babies or less confident on the water, you can always learn more or try something new for the first time. No experience is necessary to try these activities as tuition is arranged throughout the week in dinghy sailing and windsurfing. The tuition is progressive, so make sure you sign up for all the sessions and go as often as you can. It's designed to be fun, so you'll have a great time whilst learning. More advanced sailors and windsurfers can take the kit out for some free sailing or join clinics, which focus on a variety of different aspects to improve and fine-tune your existing skills.
Although there's no formal tuition available for water skiing, wakeboarding, stand up paddle boarding (SUP ) and kayaking, the expert staff are around to give you pointers to get you started or help with technique if you already have some experience. Kayaks and SUP's are free to use at any time, just let the beach team know you're heading out, take the kit and off you go. There's even an XXL stand up paddle board in each beachclub, it can fit up to eight people, perfect for a family adventure—load them up and off you go.
In the countryside
One of the more popular and accessible activities in our beachclubs has got to be mountain biking. Most people can ride a bike and it's a great way to explore the surrounding countryside under your own steam. Each beachclub has a fleet of TREK mountain bikes in a range of sizes and you'll be able to sign up for a number of guided rides each day. If you prefer the open road, many of the beachclubs also have road bikes.
The rides are grouped by ability. If you don't ride much and haven't been on a bike for some time sign up for one of the 'leisure rides'. Leisure by name, leisure by nature, these rides are quite short (5-25km), on easy ground with little or no off road riding to tackle, and you'll be pleased to know we try to avoid the hills (wherever possible, that is).
If you've got a pretty good level of fitness and enjoy a bit of off road riding, join us for a guided 'sport ride'. Each day there's a new ride across a variety of terrain with plenty of testing climbs and exhilarating descents. These rides tend to be a little longer and a little more energy sapping but will give you a buzz and sense of achievement when you ride back into the beachclub.
Experienced riders looking for challenging trails, technical singletrack and plenty of open-road are well catered for at Baia dei Mori, Retreat and Messini. These clubs offer riding at its best, you'll need to be fit (some rides last around five hours), have lots of experience and be prepared to take on a challenge!
For true adrenaline junkies, rock climbing is a really fun and challenging activity, combining skill, strength and more than a little courage. That said, it's also really accessible, with plenty of easy routes to get you started together with expert instruction. At Alana and Messini Beachclubs rock climbing is a pre-bookable activity. Messini is more suited to beginners and intermediates, while Alana has a huge range of routes and grades, to suit total novices to extreme thrill seekers
Mind and body
Whether you and your family regularly run, practice yoga or enjoy Pilates there is always something for you to try on a Neilson Beachclub holiday. With up to seven different group fitness classes a day, there's a timetable of activity to tire out even the most ardent fitness fanatic.
We're talking yoga, aqua fit, Pilates, Zumba, stretch and relax, Bootcamp, ab-attack, body conditioning, Boxercise, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), fitball, circuits, Tabata and many more variations and disciplines depending on your instructor. Whatever workout you enjoy, we've got a class for you.
With so much on offer, there's always something new to try and it will never get boring. Then there's the location, no dark and sweaty gyms here! Most classes take place in the great outdoors, close to the beach; the views will help to take your mind of all that hard work. And what better way to cool down at the end of the class than a refreshing sea swim - bliss.
As well as the great range of group classes you can pay a little extra for some personal one-to-one training - there's no better way to get motivated and stay motivated.
If you're an early bird, looking to get your fitness fix in before breakfast, there's a morning run most days of between five and ten kilometres. Running not your thing? Join us for a walk in the local countryside.
