Neilson Hotel Aalborg in Les Deux Alpes, France
Out of the 100 hotels Neilson offer, the slope side Neilson Hotel Aalborg is our most popular. It's easy to see why when you look at where it is, the facilities it has and just how good it is for families. Everything has been thought of to make a great all-round ski hotel.
Location
The Aalborg sits directly on the slopes in the buzzing resort of Les Deux Alpes. Ski-in ski-out convenience is key when you have one or two non-ski-kit-carrying kids in tow, no long walks whilst carrying three sets of skis and poles here!
The hotel is right in the heart of the resort too. You’re only ever a few minutes’ walk from high-speed chairlifts of gondolas, and the lively nightlife is close by too (but not too close).
Facilities
Step into the hotel and you’re straight into the bar with its comfy seating and huge floor to ceiling windows with views out across the nursery slopes and pine trees. From the bar, you can head out to the massive sun terrace to enjoy a drink with a view or a long relaxing lunch whilst watching the world go by.
Handily, there’s an equipment hire shop in the basement so you don’t need to trek around resort to get your kit, just pop downstairs. There are ski lockers per room down there as well as boot warmers to ensure toasty warm feet in the morning.
If you’re getting the most out of the 220km ski area, you may need a little R&R after a day on the slopes. There’s a small wellness area with a sauna and treatment room offering sports and beauty massages to help ease aching legs.

There are three clubs available; Snowangels cater for four to 23 months, Snowman Club caters for two to four year olds and Snowbusters is for five to 12 year olds. Each one has their own team of experienced nannies (and mannies) to make sure the kids are well looked after and provide plenty of fun, cuddles and laughter.
All of the clubs offer a perfect mix of indoor and outdoor play with activities ranging from messy play, arts and crafts, puzzles and games, story time, singing and of course, plenty of snowy fun in the fresh mountain air.
Any kids booked into ski kindergarten or ski school will be dropped off with the instructors by our nannies too. They’ll wait around to make sure everyone is settled and happy and then pick them up at the end of the lesson. After that, it’s back to the hotel for lunch and snacks before an afternoon of full-on fun.
There’s also a 24 hour baby room for our smallest guests with changing mats, a microwave and bottle warming facilities.
Rest assured that your kids will have just as much fun as you, if not more, and all in a fun and safe environment.
Rooms & board
The 58 rooms at the Aalborg offer a wide range of sizes including singles, twins, doubles, triples, quads with bunks and interconnecting family rooms for up to six. There's no family size we can't cater for.
All rooms are ensuite with either a bath or shower and most rooms have views out across the piste and the surrounding mountains. There’s a lift in the hotel too so no need to struggle up the stairs with the inevitable stacks of luggage!
It’s half board at the Aalborg with afternoon tea, cakes and biscuits included too (always a popular time of day). The breakfast is extensive and has cooked and continental options while the evening meals are a four-course buffet with regionally inspired dishes to keep those energy levels up.
